Originally founded in 1988, Billington Safety Services has been providing a bespoke health and safety service to clients for two generations. All our consultants are Chartered Health & Safety Practitioners and OSHCR Registered Consultants with a great deal of experience supporting clients in the education sector. Our business model is based on partnership and tailoring our health and safety consultancy and training services to suit your specific needs. Clive Billington CMIOSH, Director and Principal Consultant

As director and principal consultant of BSS I provide professional health and safety consultancy specialising in construction, education sector and training.

Construction: writing policies and procedures, construction phase plans, RAMS and preparation of other site H&S documentation and templates, carrying out site visits, auditing sub-contractor compliance and support with PQQs, CHAS, etc.

Education sector: Safety in curriculum e.g. science, sport & PE, D&T, art, theatre, planning educational visits and working with LAs and union reps, as well as safety in premises management such as fire risk assessments, site inspections, local asbestos management plans, legionella control, statutory inspections, and the selection and control of contractors incl construction projects.

Tailor-made H&S training: management of health and safety, risk assessment, cable location with CAT & Genny, manual handling, changing of abrasive wheels, temporary roadsigns (red book), managing contractors. Of course I also advise and support clients when dealing with the Enforcing Authorities, incident investigation and auditing.

Jenny Hannon CMIOSH, Senior Consultant

Jenny Hannon CMIOSH DipNebo is a Chartered H&S Practitioner with over 20 years experience across multi disciplines, including Education, Residential Care and Construction in both private and public sectors. Jenny’s main expertise is in construction and has provided advice and support, including safety management systems and site inspections for both Clients, Principal Designers and Principal Contractors for projects up to 130m.

Jenny holds a BSI 18001 Auditor qualification, NVQ Level 4 in Occupational H&S, NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational H&S and is a Topic Adviser for IOSH on a voluntary basis, providing construction H&S advice on IOSH publications.

Leigh Evetts CMIOSH, Senior Consultant

Leigh Evetts is a Chartered H&S Practioner with over 12 years SHE experience. She has worked across multi disciplines and has helped to revitalise safety management in both public and private sectors. Leigh has a particular interest in highway safety and has worked with contractors and direct labour organisations to review their RAMS, training and H&S management systems involving site assurance and inspections to confirm compliance with H&S legislation.

Leigh holds a NHSS 12D Management/Client Officer card and is also a CSCS Professionally Qualified Person.

She is also able to advise on sharing of learning and how to embed safety communications across an organisation.
